Cast: Abhay Deol, Preeti Desai

Director: Devika Bhagat

Rating: **

What it is about:

The film opens with Abhay Deol and Preeti Desai’s separate lives, as they struggle through everyday looking for love, comfort, success and happines.

What’s good:

With Abhay deol at the helm, One By Two is a laid-back rom-com which takes us on a personal journey of lingering resonance.

What’s not:

The film relentlessly tries hard to make you fall in love and take it home, but not this time. There’s nothing terribly wrong with One By Two, it’s just that it rarely rises to its potential. Debutant Director Devika Bhagat tried to make a film dealing with small, awkward moments of life, resonate with emotional power, but fails to leave a mark. Little over two hours the film feels like a drag from the first half itself, as we see the lead actors run around a circle losing its whole appeal. The music won’t wow you either and doesnt help the screenplay.

The actors too have charm, but not enough to compensate. Lastly, the film comes across a trial run rather than a finished product, with an urgent need for heavy editing.

What to do:

If you are really ‘pakaoed’ then only go and watch it.
